Meet Our Expert Physical Therapist
Pegah Shams

Pegah Shams is a dedicated and experienced physical therapist and the proud owner of Progress Physical Therapy. She earned her physical therapy degree from Iran University of Science and Health Services in 2009. After graduation, she worked in hospital and inpatient rehabilitation settings before moving to Austin, Texas, in 2010, where she expanded her expertise in various areas of physical therapy.
With a strong passion for pelvic health, Pegah has pursued extensive training in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. Throughout her career, has worked full time with individuals experiencing a range of pelvic health concerns, including women’s pelvic floor dysfunction, pre- and post-natal conditions, and chronic pelvic pain. In addition to pelvic health, her experience includes treating orthopedic conditions, post-operative rehabilitation, neurological disorders, geriatric care, Bell’s palsy, gait and balance training, vestibular issues and postural education. She also incorporates advanced manual therapy techniques such as trigger point release and myofascial release into her treatments.
Pegah is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care and helping her patients to regain strength, function, and confidence in their daily lives. She is committed to staying up to date with the latest evidence-based treatments and continuing education courses, ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care. Pegah takes pride in educating her patients, empowering them to take control of their health and independently manage their conditions.
At her clinic, she provides one-on-one treatment for a full hour, which includes a combination of manual therapy and other evidence-based interventions tailored to each patient’s needs. She firmly believes that patient care should never be dictated by insurance companies or reimbursement limitations. If a treatment is in the best interest of her patients, she ensures it is done—regardless of compensation.
Beyond her professional life, Pegah enjoys spending quality time with her husband and close friends. She loves walking her Great Pyrenees-Lab mix, exploring new hiking trails, listening to music, and trying out different restaurants. She is also fluent in Farsi, allowing her to connect with and support a diverse range of patients. For Pegah, being a physical therapist is more than just a career—it is a calling. She considers it both a blessing and an honor to help others achieve their highest level of function and live pain-free lives.
